If you are interested in having a homebirth and engaging a private midwife, it is a good idea to email me when you first find out you are pregnant as availability may be limited.

In your email, please tell me your location, due date, what number pregnancy this is for you and any relevant medical history so I can check availability.

I am a medicare-eligible midwife meaning approximately 1/4 of your fees will be rebated by medicare. To qualify for the rebate, you require a GP referral for antenatal and postnatal care provided by me.

The full package of care costs $6250 which includes all antenatal, postnatal and birth care including loan of a birth pool and payment for the second midwife to be at the birth. I’m happy to discuss individual payment plans.

Things rarely go wrong when women are undisturbed and left to labour and birth physiologically and where there is an established trusting relationship with the care provider. We will have spent considerable time getting to know each other and I will have an in depth understanding of your individual wishes. I am trained to detect when things are not progressing as expected and when a higher level of care is required. I will have already recommended you book in with your closest maternity hospital as a backup so we simply transfer in if needed and I continue to provide support for you there. I also carry emergency equipment and medication to use if needed.

Homebirth is not as messy as you might think. I will support you to gather necessary equipment and in planning your birth space to optimise ease of use, minimal mess but maintaining the essence of your home and your preferences for your space.
